Do you have something to say within the realm of unapologetic feminism? Write for GF! We love featuring new and upcoming writers. Trans folx and people of color especially encouraged to submit writings! This is a paid opportunity.*
We love to showcase work written by our community members whenever possible. We accept submissions that are freshly written as well as submissions that have been previously printed. We publish new work on our site every day, so we welcome your contributions on an on-going basis. Please feel free to submit multiple pieces or column ideas if you are interested.
On your submission please include:
- The name you would like as your byline
- “Original Work” or information about where your piece was previously published
- Reference links if you’re submission is a response to another article
- Short bio and bio photo
- Any images to go along with the piece
We ask that submissions stay under 2000 words and are edited for potentially harmful/offensive language. If your piece needs a Trigger Warning, please let us know. If your piece contains any inappropriate assumptions or goes against our mission, it will not be accepted.

Intern For Us
We offer four internships in the following fields: Communications, Development, Editorial, and Web Development. Please read the duties and responsibilities of each before deciding which one you’re interested in applying to.
Communications:
The Communications Intern will be responsible for assisting the organization in the development and implementation of its marketing and communications plan. This will be accomplished through developing, maintaining and expanding marketing methods using social media, as well as other avenues.
Responsibilities:
- Write/generate press releases
- Create media alerts and email blasts
- Assist with online marketing
- Identify new marketing opportunities
- Write and post to organization’s social media accounts.
- Find users to follow/like our organization
- Track the growth and the impact of social media on our organization
- Reply to comments, messages, etc.
- Report findings to the team
An ideal candidate should possess the following:
- Responsible, flexible, hard working, ethical, self-starter, and committed to the mission of GF
- Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Self-starter who can take direction and contribute ideas
- Ability to work independently on projects while meeting deadlines
- Community development knowledge/experience a plus
- Comfortable within a digital environment
Time commitment: 5-10 hours per week; minimum 3 month commitment, with 6 months desirable.
Compensation: This is an unpaid position. GF currently has no funding source, and a newly registered 501c3 (nonprofit). There is opportunity for school credit if allowed by the college/university of applicant. Position offers an excellent opportunity to work on substantive projects and can result in a great reference.

Development:
The Development Intern will be responsible for creating and implementing the organization’s fundraising efforts.
- Seek new funding opportunities
- Solicitation strategizing
- Write grants
- Identify and research potential partnerships (with individuals and organizations)
- Develop interesting and unique campaigns to boost fundraising
- Assist with special projects
An ideal candidate should possess the following:
- Be responsible, flexible, hard working, ethical, self-starter, and committed to the mission of GF
- Possess a high level of organizational skills and be detail oriented
- Possess solid oral and written communication skills
- Skilled at a variety of computer skills, e.g., Microsoft Word, Word Perfect Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat are mandatory; knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop a plus.
- Able to multitask
- Help in conducting in depth researching into new fundraising markets
- Comfortable within a digital environment

Editorial:
The Editorial Intern will be responsible for reading, editing, publishing all articles that GF receives. This intern will work closely with the team, and will forward pitches and articles received to team members.
- Find new and unique voices to write for GF
- Read and edit articles before they are published on website
- Edit and assist in writing all copy on website
- Publish articles using WordPress
- Help identify potential reprint articles and new sources for reprints
An ideal candidate should possess the following:
- Be responsible, flexible, hard working, ethical, self-starter, and committed to the mission of GF
- Strong writing, editing, multitasking, and organizational skills required
- Ability to multitask and handle deadlines
- Must be a voracious reader (magazines, newspapers, blogs, websites, books, etc
- Comfortable within a digital environment
Time commitment: 5-10 hours per week; minimum 3 month commitment, with 6 months desirable.

Web Development:
The Web Development Intern is primarily responsible for the GF website, housed at guerrillafeminism.org. This person will be the main point of contact for website-related issues, website maintenance, and support.
Responsibilities:
- Support the maintenance and back-end updating of website
- Utilize and place non-problematic ads on website
- Support team with building and formatting paid membership/subscription service on website
- Look into avenues to create monthly electronic newsletters
- Assist with special projects
An ideal candidate should possess the following:
- Be responsible, flexible, hard working, ethical, self-starter, and committed to the mission of GF
- Proficiency in technical web development tools (WordPress, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.) and firm grasp of the back-end and digital space
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Photoshop
- Proficiency in in Microsoft Office and social media platforms
- Knowledge of HTML or other digital coding
- Effective communicator – both written and oral
- Ability to work independently as well as in partnership with a team
- Ability to define and work to deadlines
- Be self-directed and willing to take initiative, and detail-oriented
- Comfortable within a digital environment
